Hello, and happy Spring!
Yes, the Spring Equinox was yesterday, and yes, we are currently under a bushel of snow. So disheartening. I was really hoping yesterday was going to be the day when I could bundle up and take my yoga outside for the first time this year. For those of you who don't know, it's traditional to practice 108 sun salutations on the winter and summer solstice, and some junkies like to do it on the equinoxes too**. But luckily, "yoga teaches us to cure what cannot be endured and endure what cannot be cured" (BKS Iyengar) and I had a great little session inside for the first time in months.
I hope this Equinox finds you peaceful, happy, and healthy. I hope that wherever you are, you're making the best of it. And I hope you're as excited as I am for the start of LoveYoga!
See you soon!
Janine
**To be fair, you can definitely do 108 sun salutations whenever you feel like it. I've heard tell that the Dalai Lama completes this marathon of mental, spiritual, and physical discipline every morning. But like... sheesh. Most humans have to work up to it a little bit.

What is LoveYoga?
Well, I'll tell you what!
LoveYoga is a free, outdoor yoga class hosted by me, Janine. I love yoga (see what I did there?!) and realized I haven't been doing nearly enough of it since I've moved back to Long Island. Working a full-time, grownup job with a 100 minute/day commute has been leaving me too zapped to hunt around for a local yoga studio that fits my groove. As a result, my once daily practice has dwindled to once in a blue moon. And I just won't stand for it!
LoveYoga is a special occasion where my friends are invited to gather and enjoy an outdoor yoga class, a garden-based potluck, and some socializing. I'm not a certified yoga teacher (yet), but I am a divine hostess. And what better to get me back into a yoga practice than a magical combination of friendship, food, and peer pressure?
Start date: TBA (weather dependent, as soon as it gets warm enough to comfortably spend an hour stretching outside).
Time: Class will likely be in the mornings (9-10 am) or evenings (5-6 pm) as weather allows. Specific times will be posted per class.
Frequency: Twice a month to once a week, depending on turnout and level of interest.
Location(s): On the North Shore of Long Island. Will vary between Sea Cliff Beach, Tappen Beach, local parks, and my own backyard.
Duration: Class will last anywhere between 60-75 minutes.
Skill level: Class will be fairly athletic, but I will offer modifications for those who want to take it a bit slower. Keep in mind that outdoor yoga offers different challenges (and advantages!) than studio yoga so even if you're a seasoned yogi you might find this to be different then your usual jam.
What's this about a potluck?: When location allows, class will be followed by a potluck of light fare (snacks, smoothies, and such).
Sheesh, seems like there's a lot of unknowns here. How do I find out about specifics, you crazy frickin hippie?: More info to come on this site, so keep checking back.
Namaste, biyotches. Can't wait to get rolling!

Welcome!
Hello ladies and germs,
Welcome to the internet home of LoveYoga, a free outdoor yoga class hosted by Janine.
As many of you know, I have a fatal FaceBook allergy, so I've created this page to help all the LoveYogis find those boring, necessary details (where is LoveYoga happening? what time does class start? what should I wear?) and maybe a few more fun things too (recipes! menus! mantras! the whole shebang!) Click around to begin your LoveYoga adventure.
